What are rules?
Imagine a set of rules developed over many years. The rules represent filters or transformation programs. The rules, when applied appropriately, allow for the progression and growth of a personality. Cultural norms emerge from the rules. As survival tools, the rules tend to be focused on the local environment. A society living in extreme cold environments would certainly have rules to limit frostbite and exposure damage, while societies living in hot environments would have rules to prevent sun stroke and heat exhaustion. There are rules associated with protocol and opinion. These may be survival based but in societies where leisure time is valued, these rules are applied to information as well as things. Information is associated with power and control, primal values that express through our personalities. Our brain and consciousness interact in an unusual way. The brain creates a quantum field, this generates a hole in space time. On the other side of the hole is nothing until energy slips into the hole. The energy cascade that follows generates and sustains a novel thing called consciousness. Consciousness, sometimes also called the mind, even perhaps, the soul, is an effect of the brain processing stimulation by transforming and filtering to create information using rules developed over millions of years.
